Dogwood staff and volunteers teamed up last Friday to hold simultaneous sit-ins, one in Victoria at Adrian Dix’s Ministry of Energy office, the other in Vancouver at the constituency office of premier David Eby.

We held our demonstrations with the backing of more than 25,000 people from across Canada who’ve signed our petitions against the U.S.-backed Prince Rupert Gas Transmission (PRGT) pipeline.

There’s been a wave of cross-country solidarity actions in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa, including one aimed at Prime Minister Mark Carney. All of this is raising the stakes on the B.C. government’s imminent decision on PRGT.

Demonstrators at the sit-ins were peaceful, but had a strong message: respect Indigenous rights, do NOT sell off B.C. to U.S. billionaires and get serious about a climate plan that does not include more fracked gas.

The B.C. government says it’s “all hands on deck” to fight American threats – but approving PRGT does the opposite. Major investors in this pipeline include American billionaires who also funded Trump’s presidential campaign and the MAGA political movement.

Check out wrap up videos of the actions in both Vancouver and Victoria*

Stop the power grab - Wilderness Committee
Premier Eby is attempting to hand sweeping powers to his government via Bill 15: Infrastructure Projects Act.

This Bill would give ministers sweeping power to bypass environmental assessment processes of any project deemed “provincially significant.” But the bill provides no clear criteria for what qualifies — leaving the door wide open to mines, LNG terminals, pipelines and other industrial megaprojects.

First Nations groups have also raised serious concerns about the precedent it sets for bypassing Indigenous consultation.  Tell your MLA to oppose Bill 15.
Last week, Prime Minister Mark Carney revealed that Lena Metledge Diab will serve as Canada’s new Immigration Minister.

The first thing Diab should do as Minister is bring climate activist Zain Haq back to Canada by greenlighting his Temporary Residence Permit that has been processing since January.

His removal from Canada was unlawful and reminiscent of the problematic immigration policies we're seeing take place in America.

Take action now: Send a message to the new minister asking her to bring Zain home.
