B.C. premier David Eby is expecting Indigenous nations in northern B.C. to be “convinced” that Ksi Lisims LNG is a good idea.

When asked about approving the fracked gas export facility, Eby said he has faith more nations will change their mind.

Eby also said the Nisga'a government’s decision to partner on Ksi Lisims makes the project "meaningful" to his government.

What seems to be less “meaningful” to Eby is the resounding 'no' he's gotten from nations whose territory will be affected by this project. Because according to Eby, that 'no' will actually become a 'yes'!

And what does David "elbows up" Eby want nations to say 'yes' to? An American-owned mega gas terminal backed by billionaires with close ties to Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, that has not received a final investment decision, and that imperils some of the last intact salmon-bearing watersheds in the world. It’s no wonder nations are saying NO.

There’s one guy buying what Eby is selling, though! Federal energy minister Tim Hodgson  praised the Ksi Lisims approval, falsely claiming it will employ “thousands of Canadians” (the floating terminal, built in Korea, will only create 200 permanent jobs). But… does Hodgson understand what or who he’s celebrating? Funneling taxpayer dollars to an LNG terminal backed by a Donald Trump megadonor is a bad look for the Liberals, who were on the brink of the biggest election defeat in Canadian history before running a campaign on a promise to 'stand up to Trump'.

The last week of our September fundraising drive. Generous donors have gotten us incredibly close to our $10K goal… As of today, we’re only short $1,849.

Ksi Lisims LNG is approved. That’s a hard pill to swallow. But there’s reason to be hopeful. Big investors are seeing better returns on projects in the U.S. than in Canada. And banks aren’t interested in taking a risk on a pricey project with questionable returns.

Sooner or later, a tipping point is coming. Every month people like you can pitch in to hold off construction, the more likely projects like Ksi Lisims fall apart.

Every dollar right now matters. Thank you in advance for your support.
